Next year, the guys from TAFKAL will be coming to MAINSTAGE Brabanthallen not once, not twice but thrice with their brand-new tour, 'Serieus Grappig'. Earlier this year The Artists Formerly Known As Lama’s improvised twice for a sold-out crowd. Reason enough to add two extra shows to the 2026 schedule. The shows will take place on Thursday, May 21st, Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23th.
After 21 years, you would think that The Artists Formerly Known as Lama's have finally grown up, but that still seems a long way off. However, they are working hard on it. In 2025, these men of a certain age will be performing in sold-out houses night after night and that tastes like more. So why not add a year to it?!
After a grand anniversary in 2024, Tafkal decided to go back to the drawing board and develop a whole bunch of new games. That went down well with the fans and so the improvisation boys provide an evening full of classics in the making again. So yes, they have grown a bit older and take the art of theatre seriously. But of course they remain funny. Seriously. Funny.
At the end of June 2004, the television landscape was enriched with the improvisation programme de Lama’s. With that, television history was written. Between 2004 and 2008, millions of people watched something completely new: everything was thought up and played on the spot. After 83 episodes, de Lama’s called it a day. In the meantime, Ruben Nicolai, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, Tijl Beckand, Ruben van der Meer and Patrick Lodiers had also conquered the theatres and said goodbye by performing for 65,000 visitors in six cities.
Between 2008 and 2017, the Lama's stopped performing and focused on their individual careers. However, blood is thicker than water; in 2017, they made their comeback in the Ziggo Dome with four shows and did so again in 2019. In 2022, the Lama's continued as Tafkal with two sold-out theater tours and two Ziggo Dome performances to their name. They also made the switch to Videoland, where two seasons of Tafkal can now be seen. In 2024, the 20th anniversary was celebrated with two shows in the Ziggo Dome and a theater tour is planned for both 2025 and 2026.
