Vera Mann takes you on a musical journey. A personal, vulnerable and occasionally hilarious story about chance encounters, family secrets and love troubles. The audience naturally receives a small Flemish lesson from this Flemish actress, certainly and certainly, and confronts everyone with the differences between the Belgians and the 'Dutch' ... or the similarities.

As a child, she was obsessed not only with Chopin but also with Barbra Streisand, the birth of a calf when she was 10 years old, had a lot of chance encounters that eventually landed her on stage. This ensures that the music is carefully chosen and seamlessly connects to all subjects in the performance.

Vera is accompanied by two fantastic musicians: pianist Ed Boekee and Diederick Ensink as multi-instrumentalist. The music varies just like life itself. "Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell has been translated by Paul van Vliet and for the first time the song from "Gypsy" is sung in Dutch, "Rose's turn" in a translation by Jeroen de Beer. Leo Ferré's beautiful chanson "Avec le Temps" has been translated by Vera Mann herself:

While time, time seems to pass and slip
who belongs to which face
whose voice to which poem
the heart hesitates to beat
time to search
is not in it
so let go
there is no point

Desire is all-encompassing. Desiring to sing, to play, to tell stories and above all a lot of enthusiasm in life as it presents itself.

Please note: the price does not include € 2.85 transaction costs.

This show takes place in HAL8.

This show is a production of Theater aan de Parade and MAINSTAGE.
