In 2022, we celebrate Efteling's 70th birthday. Together with the Metropole Orchestra and the Efteling, we present Efteling in Concert. Based on the iconic Efteling music, this magical show brings the story of the park to life. The Efteling can rightly be called Dutch cultural heritage. The park, the rides, and the music of the park are in the DNA of every single Dutch person. 'Efteling in Concert' will pay a musical and visual ode to the park.
The Metropole Orkest plays a specially developed suite, in which the music of the Efteling comes to life in a majestic way. From the grand and magical atmosphere of Symbolica to the dark Danse Macabre of the Haunted Castle and from the iconic music of the Indian Water Lilies to the adventurous sounds of Raveleijn, young and old can imagine themselves directly in the World Full of Wonders. Visitors dream away to the melodies of Dream Flight or are swept up by the Eastern music of Fata Morgana. From the early years' music to the present and from the unknown pearls to works eternally linked to the Efteling that anyone can dream of. Efteling in Concert covers all memories of the legendary park and creates new ones at the same time.
Choirmaster Maurice Luttikhuis
Choirmaster Maurice Luttikhuis conduct the Metropole Orkest at these concerts. Luttikhuis is a well-known name in musical land and has been involved in major Dutch productions such as Miserables, Cats and Lion King. In addition to the 65-piece Metropole Orkest (in extensive line-up especially for the occasion), Maurice Luttikhuis also conducts the Pa‘dam chamber choir. The unique interplay with Pa'dam gives an extra dimension to the recognizable music of Efteling.
Visual journey
The visual interpretation of Efteling in Concert is in the hands of director and concept maker Jerom Fischer. Jerom Fischer: "My goal was not just to collect images from the park, but to develop a style all of my own that leaves room for the 'magic of memories' so that every spectator can recognize and relive his own memories of Efteling."
Especially for this concert, together with Jason van Domburg, art director and set designer, he developed a world of silhouettes and shadows that support the music. An enchanting miniature world consisting of hundreds of carefully carved wooden layers forms the basis of every scene. In this way, every song the orchestra plays will soon have a completely new decor.
The impressive music of Efteling brings out a nostalgic feeling in everyone. Imagine yourself back in your childhood and experience the magic of the park with the same wonder as back then.
'Efteling in Concert' will be a unique musical and visual journey through the past and present of the theme park. A fairytale experience you will never forget!
